India's Dance for Sudan's Education

On April 13, 2008, two disparate cultures met in beauty and peace at the Mass College for Arts Auditorium, when the critically acclaimed Triveni Dance Ensemble presented a dance concert "Divine Rhythms... the Joyful Spirituality of Indian Dance" as a benefit for the Kunyuk Girls' School in Akon Sudan. The Triveni ensemble, directed by Neena Gulati preserves India's 5000 year old tradition of temple dancers who educated and entertained communities with this highly formalized choreography of hand gestures, facial expressions and sculpturesque body postures. The highlight of the sold out concert was a moving performance to poetry from the film A GLORY FROM THE GOD. The concert raised $5000 for the Kunyuk School for Girls.
